Johannesburg, South Africa, December 2025 – As 2025 draws to a close, FAW Trucks Southern Africa looks back on a pivotal year characterised by pioneering product advancements, robust network expansion, and deepened customer relationships. Amidst a dynamic economic landscape, FAW Trucks has reinforced its leadership in the commercial vehicle industry, delivering solutions that address sustainability, efficiency, and regional challenges while fostering inclusivity and cultural integration. These milestones that have propelled FAW Trucks forward, empowering businesses and communities throughout Southern Africa.
The year commenced with strategic insights into the logistics sector’s evolving demands. FAW SA addressed critical trends such as environmental responsibility, technological integration, supply chain disruptions, and operational efficiency. By offering eco-friendly, fuel-efficient vehicles equipped with advanced telematics and fleet management systems, FAW SA positioned itself as a resilient partner, ensuring minimal downtime through its local manufacturing and extensive dealer network. Throughout the year, we received compelling customer testimonials from partners such as Platinum Energy, Nirvana Logistics, Lalgy Cargo / Black Bulls, Metro Towlines, Phakasima Hard Rock Mining, Tye Transport, Titan Cargo & Crusader Logistics showcasing the impact of the JH6 500FT. These operators lauded the model’s exceptional reliability, superior fuel economy that often exceeds three kilometres per litre and low maintenance costs, with features like telematics reducing insurance premiums and enhancing driver safety.
Another highlight was the Master Tech training programme, a cornerstone initiative that equips FAW technicians with cutting-edge skills, ensuring swift diagnostics and repairs to uphold FAW’s service excellence.
During April we celebrated the transformative role of Chinese automotive brands in South Africa, with FAW leading the commercial segment as the top-ranked brand. Through substantial investments in its Eastern Cape facility, FAW SA has driven job creation, skills development, and economic growth, introducing affordable, high-quality vehicles that incorporate advanced technologies like fuel-efficient engines and safety systems. In addition to that, the JK6 16.260FD tipper was introduced , revolutionising agricultural transport with its 8-tonne payload, Automated Manual Transmission (AMT), and versatile side and rear tipper configurations. Tailored for South Africa’s varied farming terrains, from Mpumalanga’s fertile plains to the Northern Cape’s arid expanses, this range optimises bulk material handling for grain, fertiliser, and aggregates, minimising downtime and boosting sustainability.
Another highlight was the 31st anniversary of FAW SA within Southern Africa that showcased the 72 years of global expertise from its Chinese origins, symbolising persistence, progress, and performance.
A new Potchefstroom dealership in partnership with Laubstar Holdings opened, enhancing support for Limpopo’s agriculture, logistics, and construction sectors with comprehensive sales, service, and parts facilities. FAW also attended the Big 5 Construct South Africa expo, where models like the JH6 28.550FT, JK6 33.310FD Tipper, and J5N 35.340FC Mixer demonstrated tailored solutions for the $125 billion construction market, emphasising durability and efficiency.
Additionally, the JH6 range expanded from the success of the iconic JH6 500FT-AMT series with two models: the JH6 33.460 FT-AMT & JH6 28.550 FT-AMT, offering enhanced power, telematics, and driver comfort to meet Africa’s harsh conditions.
During August we were honoured to receive high praise for the JH6 500 from Titan Cargo, who mentioned its 500-horsepower engine, fuel efficiency in live tests, and luxury-like cab for regional and cross-border operations into Botswana, Mozambique, Lesotho, and Namibia.
Women’s Month acknowledged the rising influence of women in transport and logistics, noting a jump in female commercial drivers from 1% in 2019 to 4.4% by 2024, and highlighting FAW’s 50+ female employees, contributing to innovation and equity. September’s Heritage Day tribute reflected on FAW’s integration of Chinese engineering with South African culture, evolving from three branches in 2010 to 34 dealers, and scaling Coega production from 5,000 units annually since 2014 to meet surging demand.
We’ve celebrated the new Cape Town branch at 9 Karee Road, Kraaifontein, opened with extended services for the Western Cape’s construction and logistics needs. Five additional dealerships launched, including Stucky Motors Durban and Pietermaritzburg as well as Laubstar’s outlets in Lichtenburg, Potchefstroom, Upington, and Kathu, backed by 24/7 breakdown support. The Export Dealer Conference in Coega united representatives from Zambia, Zimbabwe, Madagascar, Mozambique and Mauritius, unveiling 2026 strategies encompassing new products tested on South African roads, specification upgrades, financial solutions with SADC banks, and aftersales enhancements like parts hubs in Lusaka and Maputo. We’ve also celebrated a 25-year partnership with Metro Towlines and Recoveries, honouring the FAW 9.140 rollback’s enduring reliability and FAW’s proactive support.
